Dr. Salvato recognized the need to perform bilateral lateral canthotomies on a trauma patient, performed one himself, and then taught one of our PGY-2s how to do the procedure! See one, do one, teach one! Way to go, Bryan! 👁️

We have a new Program Director, Dr. Melissa Parsons!

Dr. Parsons trained at our program from 2012-2015, was a chief resident in her senior year, and then remained on as faculty, ultimately becoming the Associate PD. She has been integrally involved in our trainees’ education and has been diligent about preparing to take on this role. She is active in our medical staff, active nationally in the Council of Residency Directors as both a member and a committee member, and will remain very involved in the years to come. She is also involved nationally in multiple other organizations and has a strong national presence as a mentor and advisor for students and residents. She has a strong online presence that will help her (and us!) as she works with the Med Ed team to attract the best and brightest to our training program. Congratulations, Dr. Parsons!

Dr. James (Jimmy) Jordan is from Fort Lauderdale, Florida and joined us from Wake Forest!

Dr. Jordan is excited to explore Northeast Florida, get hands on with procedures, and build the foundation to become a solid EM physician.

About Jimmy:
I have way too many hobbies: surfing, fishing, diving, guitar, and others. Music is super important to me. I listen to everything from bluegrass to EDM, and I’ve kept the same Sublime CD in every car I’ve driven since I was 16.

Congratulations to our July Resident of the Month, Dr. Alex Kelly! Dr. Kelly is one of our outstanding PGY-3 residents.

Dr. Kelly was able to quickly recognize a sick patient, perform bedside POCUS to find tamponade physiology, and move the patient over to a resuscitation bay to perform a pericardiocentesis! What a rockstar!
✨ Intern Intro ✨ Dr. Eric Krivensky is from ✨ Intern Intro ✨

Dr. Eric Krivensky is from Jacksonville, FL and joined us from Florida State University College of Medicine (after some time in the military).

Eric is so excited to train in his hometown and serve his community. He says, “I look forward to continuing to develop my skills, knowledge, and learning from the entire UF Jax Family.”

About Eric:
After medical school, I served as a Naval Flight Surgeon. I had an amazing tour traveling around the world serving with some of the most extraordinary people. I would not have been able to do this without my wonderful wife and daughter as my support. We are avid Jaguar and Florida State fans looking forward to games this season. We enjoy the outdoors with our two pups, going to the beach, hiking and water activities.
