Petra Duran-Gehring, MD, RDMS – Director of Emergency Ultrasound, Associate Professor
Department of Emergency Medicine, UF College of Medicine- Jacksonville
After completion of medical school at Louisiana State University Health Science Center- New Orleans and an Emergency Medicine residency at the University of Florida- Jacksonville. Dr. Duran-Gehring worked in community practice in Northern California, witnessing the impact of point-of-care ultrasound first hand. She then returned to her alma mater as faculty to spread the gospel of point-of-care ultrasound. She achieved certification through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers and has created the ultrasound program for the Department of Emergency Medicine. She has lectured nationally and has a passion for medical education, as evidenced by numerous teaching awards. When not teaching ultrasound, she loves spending time with her husband and three little boys.
Andrew Shannon, MD, MPH – Emergency Ultrasound Fellowship Director, Assistant Professor
Department of Emergency Medicine, UF College of Medicine – Jacksonville.
Fellowship-trained in Emergency Ultrasound w/ interest in graduate medical education, international emergency medicine and public health, and wilderness and austere medicine. Dr. Shannon has lectured and facilitated workshops on emergency medicine ultrasound and procedures both nationally and internationally, and has twice attended Comic-Con San Diego. He tweets sporadically at @AShannonMD.
