Meet Elizabeth DeVos MD, MPH, Professor of Emergency Medicine, Assistant Chair for Faculty Development, Director of UFCOM Global Health Education Program. 

Dr. DeVos did her residency right here at UFJax! Her academic interests include global health and faculty development with research interests in global health system development, sepsis, and health disparities. 

In her free time, Dr. DeVos likes to travel, camp, hike, and triathlon. 

“UFJax EM set me up to deploy for hurricanes, to provide medical support at space shuttle launches and the Super Bowl, and to live and work in EM in Rwanda.”

Congratulations to our June Resident of the Month, Dr. Jeanne Rabalais. 

Dr. Rabalais is a PGY-2 who recently won the Resident Haiku Competition at the Clinical Decision Making in Emergency Medicine conference. She also runs our social media and is a big part of our recruitment efforts!

Congratulations to Dr. Jeanne Rabalais who was the Congratulations to Dr. Jeanne Rabalais who was the winner of the Resident Haiku Competition at the Clinical Decision Making in Emergency Medicine conference held over the weekend! This is a repeat win for JaxEM!

Dr. Rabalais presented on the use of ocular ultrasound in the evaluation of intracranial pressure.

Dr. Young quickly acted when he noticed a patient, who was sitting in a chair waiting for bed placement, spontaneously went into cardiac arrest!
Wrapping up #SeniorSendoffs with Dr. Semir Karic. Wrapping up #SeniorSendoffs with Dr. Semir Karic. Dr. Karic joined us from Florida International University Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine. 

Dr. Karic was awarded the Beranton Whisenant MD Outstanding Resuscitation Resident of the Year Award 2021 and Resident of the Month for March 2022. Dr. Karic also served as one of our chief residents! 

Dr. Karic will be staying in Jacksonville and working at Baptist Health!
Next up for #SeniorSendoffs is Dr. Thomas Frauenho Next up for #SeniorSendoffs is Dr. Thomas Frauenhofer. Dr. Frauenhofer joined us from Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine. 

Dr. Frauenhofer was the November 2021 Resident of the Month! 

Dr. Frauenhofer will be working at Baptist Health here in Jacksonville!
Continuing #SeniorSendoffs with Dr. Alberto Romero Continuing #SeniorSendoffs with Dr. Alberto Romero. Dr. Romero joined us from Mercer University School of Medicine. 

Dr. Romero was the October 2021 Resident of the Month. He was also the DEI Committee Community Outreach Chair! 

Dr. Romero will be working at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Texas!
