What a great week at #SAEM23 in Austin! We had f What a great week at #SAEM23 in Austin! 

We had faculty and fellows present amazing research (several are up for awards). We were able to meet some amazing medical students at the residency fair. And, to top it all off, our SonoGames team placed top 6 of 90+ teams!
Today was the 2nd Annual UF HSC - Jacksonville Wom Today was the 2nd Annual UF HSC - Jacksonville Women in Medicine and Science (WIMS) Conference. Today’s theme was “Be the CEO of Your Career: Turning Your Intellectual Capital Into Career Capital.” 

Shoutout to Dr. Parsons (APD) who is this years Executive Committee Co-Chair and Dr. Rabalais (PGY-2) who was a member of the planning and awards committees. Dr. Joseph serves as the Advisory Council Member. 

Additionally, we’d like to congratulate Dr. Duran-Gehring who was awarded the WIMS Mid-Career Award and Dr. Fontane who was awarded the Gender Equity Advocacy Award!

⭐️Resident of the Month⭐️ Congratulation ⭐️Resident of the Month⭐️ 

Congratulations to our March Resident of the Month, Dr. Ashton Federico! Dr. Federico is one of our standout third year residents. 

Dr. Federico received sign-out on an intoxicated patient, and once she reevaluated them, was able to find they had multiple fractures. Good catch!

This past week, we ditched regularly scheduled didactics for some much needed wellness! Field day consisted of kickball, yard games, breakfast, puppies, and the tiniest members of our JaxEM family!

Congratulations to our January Resident of the Month, Dr. Victor Perez! Dr. Perez is one of our exceptional interns!

Dr. Perez was able use his history and physical exam skills to catch an appendicitis in a patient who presented with viral symptoms and actually had the flu too! Way to go Vic!

For full transparency, residency leadership will hold its match meetings on February 8th and 9th and will submit their complete rank list on the evening of February 9th. Participation in the Second Look experience will not be factored into our applicant ranking.
